Winter Above-Ground Pool Pillow

Prepare your above-ground pool for colder weather with an inflatable winter pool pillow that sits on the water beneath your winter cover.

The flexible air cushion helps absorb pressure as ice expands, while raising the cover where the pillow is positioned. Its blue PVC body features welded seams, a Boston valve for inflation and deflation, and attachment points for the securing ropes.

Once winter is over, simply deflate, dry and fold it for compact storage until next season.

1. Lay the pillow flat.
   Unfold it on a smooth surface away from sharp objects.
2. Connect your air pump.
   Open the inflation cap and use a compatible pump adapter.
3. Inflate to 60–70%.
   Leave the pillow soft and slightly squishy. Do not inflate it until it feels hard.
4. Close the valve securely.
   Check that the cap is properly closed before placing the pillow in the pool.
5. Attach the ropes.
   Thread them through the pillow’s attachment points—not through the valve.
6. Position it in the pool.
   Place the pillow on the water near the center and secure the ropes to suitable anchor points without pulling them overly tight.
7. Install your winter cover.
   Place it over the pool and pillow, following the cover manufacturer’s instructions.
8. Check occasionally.
   Monitor the pillow’s position and inflation, and maintain your cover as instructed throughout winter.
